Below is a dutch article I wrote in the end of 2007. It is in dutch because it is written as part of a writing refresh course. It talks about the (then upcoming) release of Air and Air-like technologies and what these mean for business and developers. What posibilities it offers to extend web-experiences to the desktop, as well as how much fun developers can have building these types of applications.
It is a bit low level for most flash guru’s around, but that’s because the target audience is a bit different than the better informed daily flash/flex users out there. For those that aren’t scared away yet and still wanting to read the article in english, you can translate it (seems to be quite adequate) through Google Translate.

Just got Back from Barcelona after enjoying three days of bubbling and sizzling ‘Max Europe 2007′. It was great!
First off, Barcelona wasn’t a bad idea for location at all ;) Great city with a lot to keep you busy after a long day of talks.
Took the oppurtinity to attend as many talks as I could (meaning getting up way too early…) and found most of them very usefull. A couple of them really stood out, but I’ll try to get some pics up and talk more in detail about those later on.
In the meantime, these should give you a great overview :)

When I started working at LogicaCMG’s Frontend Centre, one of the first projects I got my hands dirty on was helping out a student who was graduating on a multi-touch prototype. Remember, this was before the iPhone/Microsoft hype happened ;). Multi-touch was new for me, and for a lot of other people too.
We got together and decided to give building the prototype in flash a try. Boy did we have fun :) It is tricky though…. operating systems (and the products -e.g. flash- running on them) asume there will be only 1 pointer. Think about it…. flash has had onRelease for ages…. but it doesn’t incorporate a way to get which mouse is down.
