While building my Flash apps, I always had an interest in the more ‘organic’ type of interface elements. Things like physics and ‘real world mapping’ pop into mind.
Inspiration came from projects like ‘Bumtop 3D‘ and ‘Project Looking Glass‘, both projects which try to change the way people tend to expect an interface will react on their actions.
Keeping this in mind, you can imagine how enthousiastic I was when i heard about the ‘Distortion Effects‘ package during my Flex 2.0 course. Alex Uhlmann created a package which makes use of the ‘Sandy 3D engine‘ for manipulating Flex components in a fantastic way. It’s great to see the chemistry between open source projects and creative people using them for other practical uses.
