Hmm, the frustrations of me using Flash Remoting for the first time have been huge. You could already read the frustration of having to set the whole backbone up. While being busy building the guestbook up, something broke inside my tiny little brain.
I asked myself the question…. ‘Why did i decide to use Flash Remoting again?’. The funny thing is, I couldn’t remember.
So now i am so fed up with it, that I am going to try it the more conventional way (read: through xml data transfers).
I got tired of having to learn a whole new binch of syntax related issues, timing tweaking, dual script maintanance, etc. that I just don’t see the point in it anymore.
The AMF protocol is probably great for lots of people, but for the time being not for me. When i think about how my current setup could be implemented in a real world application, all kinds of compatability issues started spooking through my head….. And what is the point of first programming functions in PHP and then having to program them all again in AS.
It might just be one of those things everybody needs to go through, survive, then retry and suddenly understand the bigger picture, but for now… back to good old XML. I’ll check back…. hopefully!
